Room 4 and the beanstalks

We read the story Jack and the Beanstalk. We drew pictures and wrote captions! You can hear the story here.

We found out all about how plants and trees grow.
We found out that some of our food comes from
 plants and trees.
We decided to be farmers!! We went to the school garden and planted broad bean seeds!

These are the broad bean seeds.

We brought the seeds to the garden.

John used a stick to make a hole in the soil for us.

We put our seeds in the holes.

We all worked together and did a great job!

Next John helped us to use a rake to cover the seeds in soil!

We put our scarecrow in the raised bed to watch over our seeds.

We hope they grow really tall just like the one in the story of Jack and the beanstalk!

Catch me if you can!

We have been using beanbags to practice our throwing, catching, passing and balancing skills.

We balanced the beanbags on our heads, shoulders, knees and toes. We balanced the beanbags on our chests, backs, elbows and hands. Some of them were easier than others.

We practiced throwing the beanbags up in the air and catching them in our hands. We tried it using one hand only. We also tried to throw the beanbag up and clap 3 times before we caught it... it was really hard!!

We also practiced throwing the beanbags at a target (hula hoops!)
