History Week! St.Brigid's Well!

During History Week we learned about St. Brigid.

St. Brigid is a famous Irish Saint. We learned the story of St. Brigid's Cloak.

St. Brigid was a very kind and good person. She loved God and wanted to build a convent.
She asked the King of Leinster for some land. He said she could have as much land as her cloak could cover, which wasn't very much. St. Brigid laid her cloak out on the ground. The cloak started to grow and grow and grow until it covered enough land for St.Brigid to build her convent.

St. Brigid's Day is on the 1st February every year. People make St. Brigid's crosses like the one pictured above and have them blessed. We are learning the song 'We Sing a Song to Brigid'.
Listen to it below.

Today, we visited St. Brigid's Well. We walked to the well along with room 5 and 6.

We saw lots of things along the way.

St. Josephs school.

We crossed St. Anthony's Road.

We saw the bus stop.

We crossed St. Brigid's Road.

Then we walked up the hill to the well.

When we got back to our classroom, we drew a plan of St. Brigid's well.
