St.Brigid

We have been learning about St.Brigid. St.Brigid is the patron saint of Ireland. 1st February is St Brigid s Day and the first day of Spring. St. Brigid was very kind and helped the poor and sick.
On Friday we heard the story of St. Brigid's Cloak

St. Brigid wanted to build a church. She didn't have any land to build on so she asked the King of Leinster for some land. He didn't want to give St.Brigid any land so he told her she could have as much land as her cloak would cover. She put her cloak on the ground and it started to grow and grow, bigger and bigger, until it covered enough land for St.Brigid to build her church. Her church and convent was built in Co. Kildare.

We decorated our own cloaks using crepe paper.

We learned the song 'We sing a song to Brigid'

Today we visited St. Brigid's Well.

We drew pictures of St. Brigid's Well when we got back to our classroom!
