Minibeast Madness

We have been learning all about minibeasts. 

Minibeasts are tiny creatures like insects, spiders, ladybirds, beetles, earwigs, wasps, frogs and newts. 

We went on a minibeast hunt in the school garden! Take a look at our video to see us out hunting! We caught ladybirds, spiders, ants, beetles and even a bee!

We listened to the minibeast madness song from cbeebies and the creepy crawly song! Watch the videos below. 

We listened to the story of Superworm!

We wrote the superworm chant and drew pictures!

We also listened to the story 'What the Ladybird Heard' by Julia Donaldson. Watch the story below. We were very good at making the animal sounds. 

Marble Painting

We made paintings using marbles instead of paintbrushes.

First we put our paper in the bottom of a box.

Next we put a little bit of 4 different colours on top of the paper.

Then we rolled 4 marbles around the page!

 

 

We think our paintings are fantastic!

Beautiful Butterflies!

We have been learning all about the life cycle of the butterfly!

We watched this time lapse video of the lifecycle of the butterfly from tiny egg to caterpillar to chrysalis and finally into butterfly.

This song helped us learn the word metamorphosis.

We made our very own life cycle pictures.

We made these beautiful butterfly mobiles for the Craft Fair.

We also read the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Then we made our own books of the story.

Beanstalks Update!

We went to the garden to check on our beanstalks!

Flowers are starting to grow on the plants!

 

We had to do some weeding!

Craft Fair

 

We went to the craft fair on Friday. 

We displayed our beautiful butterfly mobiles and our gold and silver medals!

                                                 
                              

We really enjoyed seeing all the wonderful arts and crafts from all the other classes.

 

Room 13 made pots from clay and baskets from lollipop sticks!

5th class made amazeballs and masks!

 

3rd class learned how to knit... they made hairbands, bags and bows!

 

 

 

2nd class made jewellery and sock puppets.

 

Room 12 made butterflies and painted glass jars to make tea-light holders.

 

Room 5 made heads from fabric and fibre.

 

6th class made dreamcatchers and photo frames.

 

Room 2 made rainbow fish.

 

Room 14 made a puppet theatre and wooden spoon puppets.

 

Room 3 painted stones with beautiful colours patterns and designs.

4th class learned how to crochet! They made necklaces, bracelets and headbands.

Room 6 made these wonderful under the sea scenes and rainbow fish.

Room 1 made snakes in the grass from egg cartons.
