Letters to Santa

We wrote letters to Santa on Monday. We worked really hard and did our best writing!

We put our letters in a special envelope!

Ted took good care of our letters until Tuesday.

On Tuesday we walked to the postbox to post our letter.

We lined up in the school and the boys at the back of the line were put in charge of the letters.

We had great fun on the walk to the post box.

When we got to the postbox we passed the letter carefully from the back of our line to the front.

The girls at the front of the line put the letter in to the post box.

On the post box it said the postman would collect our letter at 5:30p.m. We hope Santa likes our letters.

The Magic of Music - La Cucaracha

Catherine was back again bringing the magic of music to our classroom. This time we listened to music from Mexico. We marched around the classroom to the music. Some of the music was very fast and some of it was slow. We played percussion instruments along to the music.
We learned about when songs change and we responded to the different parts of the songs by marching to the first part and then playing our instruments when the music changed. The music kept changing so we had great fun changing from marching to playing to marching again and again!
We learned the song La Cucaracha. It is all about a little cockroach! Catherine brought in her guitar Kasha and some Mexican hats called sombreros for us to wear! It was so much fun and we can't wait until Catherine comes back again.

The Smartest Giant in Town

We have been reading The Smartest Giant in Town. The story is all about George the Giant and how he uses all his smart new clothes to help the animals he meets on his way home! We made our very own George the Giant using fabric and fibre. We worked together to make all the parts - his head, jumper, tie, belt, hands, trousers and boots!!

Listen to the story here!

The Elves and the Shoemaker

We read The Elves and the Shoemaker. Watch it below.

We did a survey to find out about the shoes in our class. We recorded our results on a block graph. 1 person had buckles on their shoes. More than 10 people had velcro and 8 people had laces!

Sam Maguire Came to Scoil Mhuire!!

Sam Maguire visited Scoil Mhuire on Tuesday 3rd December. We all dressed in blue and white! We were really excited!
