Waterproof Materials

We got a letter from Honey Potts  - the owner of Trendy Bears Clothes Shop. She had a problem.... the teddy bears she makes clothes for were complaining because they were getting wet and soggy when they went into the woods for their Teddy Bears picnic.

Honey asked us to help her find out what the best material to make waterproof clothes for the bears is so we did an experiment.

We used:
A wooly hat
A paper hat
A plastic hat
A watering can
Water

How we did it:
1. We poured water on the wooly hat, paper hat and plastic hat.
2.Next we checked to see which hat didn't let the water through.
3. We recorded the results on our record sheet.

Results:
The wooly hat and the paper hat both let some water through. The plasic hat did not let any water through.
Plastic is the best material to make waterproof clothes for the teddy bears!

Tomorrow we will write a letter to Honey Potts to tell her our results.

The Magic of Music

On Wednesday Catherine from the magic of music came to visit our class. We played lots of fun musical games with her. We played 'Don't Clap this Rhythm Back' and we had to really concentrate on the rhythms. We learned about Granny Semibreve, Mr Minim, Mrs Crotchet and Little Miss Quaver. We learned to follow a conductor by following our conductor Catherine to the song 'Shake it up'.
We also got to use the percussion instruments to play different rhythms. It was lots of fun. We were so good we got to play along to some music!!We can't wait until Catherine comes back next week!!!

Teddy Bears Picnic!!

On Tuesday our teddy bears came to school. We wrote them invitations on Friday. You can see us hard at work.

First the teddies came to drama with us. We told Ms. Walker and our teacher all about our teddies. The teddies watched while we did a running poem. We made up a story about a lost teddy bear and we acted it out. The teddies joined in at the end.

Next the teddies played with us.

They helped in the cafe.

They helped us write amazing menus.

We played at the car garage.

And we made necklaces and patterns with beads.

Next the teddy bears read 'Yummy' with us. (Don't tell the bears but we were much better at reading!!)

We wrote our news - the teddies helped us to do our best writing.

Then It was time for our picnic. We each took a mat and shared our lunch with our teddies. When we finished eating we told our teddies a story and they went for a little nap while we went to the yard to play.
